ANTHOLOGIA, A COLLECTION OF STORIES BY WOMEN

'Women have always written. Even when our words were pushed to the margins, hidden in letters, confined to diaries, whispered between generations, they endured.'

ISSUE 2

The second issue of Anthologia is a gathering of twenty-two women authors. It is described by the publisher as a 'powerful, tender and intimate' collection of women's writing. This issue includes a beautiful eclectic range of short story fiction, non-fiction and poetry. In the words of those who co-created this collection, it is a reminder:

'To write is never only to record. It is to cast light. It is to take the world as it is and see it anew.'

This is the art of all possibilities of storytelling.

 MISSING

'Almost comically, they both straightened their caps at the same time as they stood up. The younger one, the woman, bent back into the car to retrieve her clipboard as the older policeman made his way toward Kyla and her sister Agnes. The young female police officer followed close behind, with tiny rushed steps, trying to catch up. Kyla noticed her polished shoes glistening in the morning sun as she scurried up the path.'

My piece in this issue of Anthologia is a nod to the Queen of Mystery, Agatha Christie, and is dedicated to my younger self, who devoured her books.

Every crafted piece of writing in this issue of Anthologia, a collection of stories by women, is a question and answer. Titled Missing, my piece asks and answers: what happens when we want something so badly we go beyond human morality to achieve it.

Missing is set in a small country town in Australia. Challenging our perception of who holds power, it is a comical and universally cathartic exposé of family dynamics with a twist (or two).

The second issue of Anthologia is available to order online, or you can purchase a signed copy.
