ABOUT ME
Hello and welcome.
I am Kristina Garla, a published writer, poet and a lover of words. I believe the role of a writer, as artist, is to be the great observer. To bear witness to life and scribe it as such to awaken, in ourselves and others, a universal remembering. To stir from deep within, what we have always known.
My work is at the intersection of linguistics, literature and living. Exploring the role of language and storytelling in shaping culture and being human, I am interested in soma-linguistics, etymology and archetypal theory.
Deeply moved about the mystery of things, I often find myself writing about the quintessential parts of life which bind us as humans: love and grief.
For as long as I remember, I have been writing from the body; writing from the salt on my skin and sharing what my bones know. It usually begins in the early hours of the morning between slumber and sliding out of bed. I hear a line of a poem or piece of dialogue, or feel the shape of a story in its becoming, urgently calling me to write.
I believe in being part of a community of artists and love learning together discovering what it means to create art; and sharing through my journalling, conversation, and collaborations the journey of being a writer and a poet.
My love for the art of slam poetry and spoken word is equal to my love of writing. I have performed at slam poetry events and believe something exquisitely changes within us and around us when we speak our writing.
Published in a number of anthologies and magazines, and a regular blogger, my intention is to peacefully insist for truth through my writing. I believe in the guidance of love to change the world.
Seeking to further understand how narrative and recurring patterns within the collective conscious influence behaviour; and how positive affirmations and the Buddhist principle of Right Speech modify our gene activity and neuroplasticity, I also coach people in conscious living, meditation and breathwork, to hold space for them to flourish.
I look forward to meeting and creating with you.
“The delicate imagery and raw emotion with which you've painted the scenes of your narrative is truly captivating.”

“I loved your piece. Loved the complicatedness and darkness of the family relationships within the 'mystery'. So clever.”

“I thoroughly enjoyed reading your piece and it sparked a flame in my heart of when I read Agatha Christie. Your piece brought that feeling to me. Nostalgic and thrilling.”
Ashlee
“It's rare for a chapter to combine this level of plot propulsion, character nuance, and tonal control in such a compact space. It will be a highlight in the collection and a conversation starter for readers. Absolutely love it!
